Rasmussen Reports released a MN Senate race poll along with the presidential poll (Obama up 13) they did.
It showed a 44-43 Race with Coleman having a 1 point lead but with leaners pushed it showed a 49-46 race with Franken up by 3
Franken's support has stayed between 43% and 45% in five straight polls. Coleman's support had been in the 46% to 50% range for five straight polls conducted from February through June. However, his support has been lower in a pair of July polls. When leaners are included in the current poll, it's Franken with a slight edge, 49% to 46%. Leaners are survey participants who initially don't support either candidate but express a preference for one candidate during a follow-up question.
The leaners are likely democrats who aren't really happy with Franken due to personality but will vote for him due to the issues.
Looking at the toplines we see:
That Franken is beginning to lock down his base with a 37% very favorable rating from a 13% 2 weeks ago (he has been running some very effective ads) and 15% a month ago. His overall favorability is at 60% compared to 49% and 46% (again the difference is he is catching some favorable media coverage while Norm got hammered about various things like his stupid attack ad, and his appartment and his ad that looked like it was editied).
Coleman mean while is looking at a very favorable rating of 18% (around the ballpark of where it has been (21% and 19%) and over all favorability of 57% up from 49% 2 weeks ago and 51% a month ago.
As far as the negative ratings Al has 37% with 24 being very negative (down from 46 and 50 with the very negative decreasing from 30 and 32) this shows that more people are getting to know Al and he is defining himself instead of Norm defining him.
Norm on the other hand has a 39% negative rating with 18% being very negative. again down from 47 (26 very negative) and 45 (21 very negative). Things are looking better in MN. Now if we can get progressives like Merkley from Oregon and Franken from MN into the Senate we will get better policies.
